The red Wrangler's driveshaft just asploded. Right at the slip yoke. I bet those of you who know what that means are wincing right now.

Was ur sis responsible for this one too?
I brought my Explorer in for something back in the day and the mechanic asked me if I knew that my drive shaft was bent and cracked.

Taillight is repaired, bumper is not yet.

I don't know what the "slip yoke" is, but reading "driveshaft just asploded" sounds pretty bad regardless of one's technical acumen.

There is a very tiny bit of metal sticking out of the transfer case. Just barely enough to get some vice grips on.

if you can get that out, it should be a pretty strait forward repair. I don't know how much drive shafts are though. Is that the part that sucks?

Getting the old one out is the hardest part. The driveshaft may or may not need to be replaced, it happened at speed so the loose shaft was banging around and was damaged slightly.

Does it mean your driveshaft then thrashed around beating up your pipes and so forth, or just that the shaft itself is croaked?

The driveshaft is only like a foot long so it just beat on the muffler and the floor pan. I'm waiting on a verdict currently.
